Global Hiring Science Research Scientist Intern Job Description

Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment solving complex problems and delivering innovative assessment solutions? Does the challenge of solving complex problems alongside smart, fun research scientists sound like the perfect way to spend your summer?

Amazon is currently recruiting for a 3-month summer internship on our Global Hiring Science team. You will work closely with teams across Amazon to assist in the development of innovative assessment strategies for selection. You will work with I-O psychology staff and business leaders to perform job analyses, competency modeling, assessment development activities, and assessment validation among other activities. Successful candidates will possess experience in assessment development and statistical analysis, detail orientation, and excellent problem-solving abilities.

You will:

  • Be responsible for all aspects of one major project with mentorship from a Global Hiring Science team member; you will also contribute to additional research projects
  • Interact with senior-level project sponsors and multiple business teams
  • Conduct job analysis activities including focus groups, survey development, and data analysis
  • Conduct statistical analysis including descriptive statistics, validation analyses, and adverse impact analysis
  • Develop assessment content with subject matter experts
  • Analyze complex datasets and write reports of study results
  • Communicate results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Provide project management support including scheduling and conducting meetings, coordinating focus groups, and managing project timelines
  • Maintain and update various databases

Requirements

Basic qualifications

  • Master’s degree in I-O Psychology or related field
  • Enrolled in an accredited doctoral degree program in I-O Psychology or related field
  • Relevant experience in applied selection practices, research, or talent acquisition strategies
  • Experience in selection assessment development: job analysis, content creation, validation, scoring
  • Proficiency in using R

Preferred qualifications

  • Proficiency and experience in applying machine learning and natural language processing techniques to solve I-O problems
  • Previous work experience in recruiting or assessment strategies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Quantitative analytical abilities
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
