Job Summary:
Reporting to the Controller, this position will provide hands-on accounting support for a team of general ledger accountants. This seasoned individual will be both a team leader and strong individual contributor and be responsible for all areas relating to accounting and consolidation, and internal/external financial reporting. In addition, this position will help set accounting policies, design and implement automation of accounting processes, improve procedures and internal controls, and participate in acquisitions and the establishment of joint ventures and the accounting for these entities. The successful candidate will be able to apply his/her technical accounting knowledge, and analytical skills to lead a dynamic, first class, scalable and efficient, accounting team for a fully remote public company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal policies, SOX controls, and external audits.
  • Shared ownership of full cycle general ledger close process and related activities to ensure complete and accurate financials in according with U.S. GAAP, including managing/reviewing close activities such as journal entreis and account reconciliations within the established close timeline.
  • Develop, mentor, establish and review goals for a team of staff and senior accountants.
  • Establish strong trusting relationships with inter-departmental peers, and be the “go to” accounting source in the Company.
  • Scale the accounting function by retaining and developing internal talent; effectively recruit external team members; and cultivate a highly skilled and productive team committed to professional standards.
  • Develop and drive necessary financial policies, procedures, and internal controls and play a leading role in directing change initiatives and process improvements.
  • Manage diligence and post-close integration on acquisitions
  • Identify knowledge gaps and guide the team to challenge status quo in the effort of successful standardization across all business units
  • Leverage knowledge and past experience to bring best-in-class finance processes and technology ideas to the organization
  • Participate in various initiatives intended to improve specific finance areas or functions.
  • Identify and implement process re-engineering/automation of manual activities on a continuing basis.
  • Lead assigned special projects as needed.


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • CPA is strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of accounting experience
  • Must be “hands on” and a proven and effective leader. Garners trust and loyalty from subordinates
  • Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills.
  • Strong ability to juggle priorities, multi-task and take ownership of projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to influence others in order to achieve results.
  • Ability to analyze problems quickly, develop solutions and proposals, and clearly communicate recommended strategies.
