Description
OverviewThe City of Bedford is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable individual to oversee operations at Otis Park Golf Course. This position may be filled as either a Golf Professional or Golf Course Manager, depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
The successful candidate will manage clubhouse operations, staff, tournaments, and community programming, while ensuring an exceptional experience for all patrons. A PGA-certified Golf Professional may also provide instruction and player development programs. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Experience Required
Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma or HSE required; college degree preferred.
Experience in golf course operations, management, and/or instruction, preferably acquired through five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, and course management practices.
Proven leadership and staff supervision skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to plan, organize, and promote programs and events.
Proficiency in financial reporting and cash handling procedures.
Ability to maintain a professional image and positive public relations on behalf of the City.
Preferred Qualifications (for Golf Professional designation):
PGA Membership or PGA Associate status.
Experience providing golf lessons, player development programs, and league coordination.
Demonstrated success in promoting and growing golf programs.
Essential Responsibilities
Manage and oversee daily clubhouse operations and procedures.
Supervise, train, and evaluate clubhouse personnel, including scheduling and assignment of duties.
Oversee reservation systems, tee times, and pace of play.
Collect and account for green fees, golf cart rentals, and other golf-related revenues; ensure daily deposits are made accurately and pursuant to policy.
Manage and maintain the golf cart fleet for readiness and safety.
Supervise operations of practice facilities, including the Jim Flick Learning Center, driving range, and putting greens.
Plan, promote, and oversee golf tournaments, leagues, and recreational outings; manage golf handicap services.
Coordinate with local school golf teams to schedule practices, matches, and tournaments.
Interpret and enforce course rules and regulations.
Assist in developing annual operating and capital budgets, including obtaining quotes, bids, and cost estimates.
Manage marketing efforts, social media, and community outreach to promote course programs and activities.
Assist with the creation of newsletters and promotional materials.
Oversee food and beverage operations, including inventory management, purchasing, and compliance with Health Department standards.
Serve as advisor to the Otis Park Men's and Ladies' Clubs, providing guidance and consultation.
Attend and report at committee, staff, and Park Board meetings.
Manage retail merchandise consistent with the goals of the golf facility.
Provide excellent customer service and promote a welcoming environment for members and guests.
Represent the City and the course professionally, including entertaining and playing golf with members and guests as time permits.

Maintain accountability and meet departmental standards.
Benefits
Salary range will be based on qualifications and experience. Candidates holding PGA certification or equivalent credentials will be considered for the Golf Professional designation at a higher pay grade; other qualified applicants may be considered for the Golf Course Manager designation.
