Kent Country Club, established in 1896, is one of the premier private clubs in the Midwest and home to one of the finest Donald Ross-designed golf courses in the country. Located just minutes from downtown Grand Rapids, our club features an 18-hole championship golf course, expansive practice facilities, an indoor TrackMan studio, and a vibrant golf program with approximately 18,000 rounds annually.

Kent Country Club is seeking an energetic, organized, and service-oriented Golf Shop Manager to lead all aspects of the Golf Shop retail operation. This individual will be responsible for creating an exceptional shopping experience for our membership while overseeing merchandise planning, buying, inventory management, visual presentation, and day-to-day Golf Shop operations.

The Merchandiser / Golf Shop Manager is responsible for the overall success of the Golf Shop retail operation. Working closely with the Director of Golf and Golf Professional Staff, this individual will develop a strategic merchandise plan, maintain an inviting and profitable retail environment, and deliver exceptional member service.

Experience Required

• Previous golf course experience and/or merchandising experience preferred.
• Passion for providing exceptional member service and hospitality.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of Golf Shop merchandising and retail operations.
• Develop and execute annual merchandise buying plans and seasonal assortments.
• Build strong relationships with leading golf apparel, equipment, and accessory vendors.
• Manage inventory levels, purchasing, receiving, pricing, and markdown strategies.
• Create attractive visual displays that reflect current trends and enhance the member shopping experience.
• Monitor sales performance and analyze inventory turns, margins, and product mix.
• Coordinate special orders and member events.
• Plan and execute trunk shows, vendor events, and seasonal merchandise promotions.
• Oversee Golf Shop presentation, cleanliness, and organization.
• Manage daily point-of-sale operations and ensure accurate inventory controls.
• Assist with tournament merchandising, prize selection, and gift programs.
• Work closely with the Golf Professional Staff to support member events and daily golf operations.
• Train and mentor Golf Shop staff on merchandising standards, product knowledge, and customer service expectations.
