POSITION SUMMARY
CP4 is looking for a Junior Field Corrosion Technician / Labourer to support field-based activities related to cathodic protection testing, surveys, field inspections, and basic system maintenance. Working under the guidance of senior technical staff, this role focuses on collecting accurate field data, operating and maintaining testing equipment, and contributing to client reports and deliverables.
This is a heavily field-based position, with approximately 80% of time spent in the field (depending on project schedules). The role involves regular travel, adherence to strict safety procedures, and working effectively in outdoor and industrial environments using company-provided technology and tools.
WHAT YOU'RE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Assist with testing and installation of cathodic protection systems to help prevent corrosion on different structures
- Assist with basic field inspection and monitoring activities related to pipeline integrity, including supporting overline survey work and ILI tracking, using companyprovided tools, equipment, and technology under the direction of senior staff
- Follow instructions and guidance from senior staff using customer drawings and specifications
- Carry out basic test procedures to collect field data for review
- Collect structuretosoil readings, soil measurements, and rectifier information
- Help sketch rectifiers, anodes, test stations, and other system components on prepared drawings
- Support senior staff in preparing survey notes and final job reports
- Sketch general site features to help document installation locations
- Organize and summarize collected data; assist with preparing charts and tables
- Help compile information for final client reports, including service recommendations
- Maintain field testing equipment, keep tools in good working condition, and assist with minor repairs
Requirements
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
- Technical school degree or diploma in Engineering or Environmental Services considered an asset
- Coursework or Associates in Corrosion Technology preferred
- AMPP CP1 + certification preferred, AMPP CP Tester Certification preferred
- 1-year experience in corrosion control, protective coatings and cathodic protection monitoring an asset
- Class A, B, or CDL Driver’s License with clean Abstract Above Ground Surveying and/or GPS experience an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- ATV, argo, etc. experience an asset
- OSHA certifications are a plus
- First Aid, H2S, WHMIS, PST
