Job Description
As a Powder Coating Booth Operator, you will manage end-to-end powder coating booth operations while ensuring that you achieve safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement standards.
You will report to the Production supervisor and work onsite at our Kancheepuram facility.
Your Responsibilities:
- Take complete ownership of Powder Coating Booth operations, including workplace organisation through 5S implementation and housekeeping activities.
- Maintain electrostatic powder coating equipment, pretreatment systems, ovens, jigs, hooks, templates, and associated fixtures.
- Manage powder coating process parameters including powder mixing ratios, recycled powder usage, coating quality, and product output to meet quality and delivery targets.
- Perform quality inspections and testing including DFT (Dry Film Thickness), Impact Test, Scratch Test, Bend Test, and Gloss Level Test while maintaining production and maintenance records.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, chemical handling regulations, continuous improvement programmes, and training of co-associates to support operational excellence.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- ITI, Diploma, or equivalent technical qualification.
- 2 years and Maximum 5 years of experience in Powder Coating Booth Operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating Electrostatic Powder Coating Guns and Pretreatment (PT) Lines.
- Knowledge of powder coating processes, coating quality standards, and process control parameters.
- Experience performing coating quality inspections including DFT, Impact, Scratch, Gloss, and Bend Tests.
- Understanding of chemical handling, workplace safety standards, PPE compliance, and preventive maintenance practices.
- Flexible to work in shifts.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- Experience in Automotive, Electronics, Electrical, Heavy Engineering, or Industrial Manufacturing environments.
- Experience maintaining production checklists, maintenance records, rejection reports, and rework reports.
- Knowledge of Kaizen, Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S methodologies.
- Experience in powder recovery systems, recycled powder management, and wastage reduction programmes.
- Experience mentoring operators or production associates.
