We’re seeking a Senior Director, Finance to help steward our resources, strengthen enterprise-wide financial operations, and support long-term sustainability so millions of young people can continue to play, learn, and grow.
This is a leadership role for a strategic, hands-on finance professional who thrives in a mission-driven nonprofit environment. The Senior Director, Finance will partner closely with the Vice President, Finance and executive leadership to align financial strategy, planning, governance, and operational excellence with Little League’s mission and long-term goals.
What You’ll Do
Reporting to, and in collaboration with the Vice President, Finance, you’ll serve as a financial leader responsible for organization-wide financial strategy, planning, stewardship, governance, and operational excellence. You’ll provide leadership across accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury management, investments, purchasing, compliance, tax reporting, local league financial support, and financial governance.
You’ll also serve as a key advisor to executive leadership, support Board and committee reporting, and help ensure strong financial controls during one of the most visible youth sporting events in the world, the Little League World Series.
Enterprise Financial Strategy
Key responsibilities include:
Partner with the Vice President, Finance to develop long-range financial plans aligned with organizational strategy
Lead enterprise financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning
Evaluate strategic investments, capital projects, facility utilization, and growth opportunities
Assess organizational financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies
Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on the financial implications of strategic decisions
Support long-term financial strategy, capital planning, and mission-driven investment
Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting
Lead organization-wide budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management processes
Develop KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics for executive leadership
Deliver clear, actionable financial analysis to support organizational decision-making
Monitor performance against budget and provide timely variance analysis
Prepare and support financial reporting for leadership, the Board of Directors, and relevant committees
Drive data-informed decision-making throughout the organization
Accounting, Audit, Compliance & Risk Management
Provide senior oversight of accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, and tax compliance
Ensure organizational compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, regulations, and internal policies
Maintain strong governance practices and audit readiness
Lead or support the annual external audit process
Serve as a key liaison to external auditors
Ensure accuracy, integrity, and transparency in financial records and reporting
Treasury, Investments & Capital Management
Lead cash management and treasury strategy
Oversee reserve management, banking relationships, credit facilities, and investment portfolio performance
Recommend strategies that balance liquidity, growth, risk management, and mission sustainability
Monitor cash flow, short-term investments, fixed assets, and corporate credit card programs
Evaluate financing opportunities and capital allocation strategies
Purchasing & Operational Efficiency
Provide strategic oversight of procurement, purchasing controls, and vendor management
Lead organization-wide efforts to improve financial and operational efficiency
Evaluate facility utilization and cost-effectiveness of owned assets
Identify opportunities for sustainable cost savings and resource optimization
Help establish and strengthen financial processes, controls, and checks and balances across the organization
Local League Financial Leadership
Establish and oversee educational resources and guidance for local leagues and districts related to financial management, budgeting, fundraising, internal controls, nonprofit governance, and compliance
Serve as an organizational expert and escalation resource for district and league financial matters
Support audit reviews, compliance issues, and financial governance concerns throughout the Little League network
Little League World Series Financial Operations
Ensure secure and controlled cash management, reconciliation, and inventory controls for event-based merchandise sales
Manage secure collection, deposits, and daily financial reporting during the event
Provide real-time sales and revenue insights to senior leadership
Support event-based financial decision-making during tournament operations
Leadership & Organizational Impact
Lead, supervise, and develop finance staff and future finance leaders
Promote a culture of innovation, stewardship, accountability, service, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Represent Finance on executive initiatives, cross-functional projects, and special initiatives
Support Board, Audit Committee, and Finance Committee reporting and presentations
Act as a strategic partner to departments across the organization
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
12+ years of progressively responsible finance leadership experience
Minimum of 7 years leading finance teams and organizational finance strategy
Significant nonprofit finance, investment oversight, audit, compliance, and strategic planning experience
Deep knowledge of nonprofit accounting, GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and standard financial and accounting procedures
Experience preparing financial reports for a nonprofit organization
Experience leading external audits and presenting to Boards, Finance Committees, Audit Committees, or executive leadership teams
Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and financial analysis skills
Ability to make sound financial decisions and establish effective checks and balances in financial processes
Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with financial systems
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data for non-financial audiences
High ethical standards and a strong commitment to stewardship, transparency, and mission impact
Preferred Qualifications
CPA strongly preferred
MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred
Experience with Sage Intacct or similar nonprofit accounting systems
Experience developing presentations for executives, Boards, or committee audiences
Experience in donor-related financial management, or philanthropic stewardship is a plus

This role works in person in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, with core hours of 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Flexibility is required during audits, major events, and periods of increased operational need, including occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel.
